As the close season is here and most of us are.. well ...bored !.
I was wondering what length rod is the "standard" ?. We all use different kit for different styles of fishing but do we have an average ?.
I started by using a 12' 3Lb test pike rod, Two of these ended up giving me a headache. I now use a 9' multiplier rod and a 7' light lure rod. For me the 9' is just about right for piking as the stop knots are not buried on the reel spool and I still have control beyond the end of the yak.
Any thoughts ?. Gary

Mine range from 6'6" lure rod up to 10ft float and a 12ft dead bait rod but I may cut the butt down on that.

I would agree that the butt on my 12' rods were one of the biggest problems but it just felt too much. Switching to the 9' multiplier rod was more comfortable.

6 to 8ft for most of my lure fishing and ive cut 12inches of the butt of my 13ft float rod which has made it much better in the kayak Daz

9 ft fly, 9 ft leger, 8ft pike bait rod, 7 -8 ft lures. Been looking for a cheap 1 1/2 lb rod for zander bait fishing 8-9 ft as well.

6-8ft for the bulk of my fishing, for float fishing would consider using my 13ft float rod.

I'm looking at an 8' multiplier rod from Glasgow angling for Piking as my 9' has a casting weight of 6oz. I want something softer for float trolling.
