I guess the call should be made a bit later on. If conditions get worse with the temperatures dropping to -5 it is going to be very slippy.
We have to be confident that everyone is safe. It is touch and go at the minute I think.

Sorry Lads......
Everywhere I look it suggests that conditions are going to get worse overnight and then a big freeze tomorrow.
Daz and I have the best part of 90 miles to travel and things could be dodgy. I think it would be sensible for us to stay a bit more local. I appreciate conditions might improve during the day but it would be a big gamble for us and really we should be taking the sensible decision.
Sooooooooo.....I am afraid on this one we will have to say we will have to opt out. It;s up to you guys to do what you feel is best but BE CAREFUL!!!!!

It has just started to snow a little heavier Terry so I have to say it is foolish to go ahead. I was really looking forward to this meet but in view of the conditions I am not even going to try tomorrow.
The temperature is dropping like a stone and as you say there is more of the same to come tonight.
Let us take a view in a couple of weeks when you and Daz have a day available and try again.

We have to be certain that clubs have no objections. If we turn up en masse then it can undo the good work we are doing in convincing club that we are honest and responsible.

Sometimes it just works out like this Phil. I am off to work tomorrow as well. What a shame we were not able to have the meet last week.
Let's hope we can get together soon

I am relieved that we cancelled today as I went through Brigg on the way to Sheffield early this morning just to see what the conditions were like. Very Very slippy indeed and that is in a 4x4. Getting onto the Ancolme would have been tricky as the fishing platforms and steps down to them were covered in snow which had frozen making it very hard to get on and off the kayaks.
The decision to cancel was the right one but as I am sat at my desk, it just doesn't feel good.
Terry and Daz, are you two going out locally today or just giving it a miss.

I have just had a conversation with the bailiff for Ashby Ville lake at Scunthorpe. He is very happy for us to go and kayak fish there any time. There is another launch point behind locked gates which he will open if I give him a call the day before which just means we can park near where we fish. I said before the lake was bigger than I thought and John confirmed the lake is in excess of 25acres so plenty of space for us.
Now the good part Daz-----we can meet at McDonalds, fill our faces and onto the lake by private gate, only 5mins from the motorway.

On the A11 nr cambridge, the 6 lane A road that becomes thr m11 last Wednesday, there was a mobe safety camera. Its dead straight, not hidy and according to.the statistics has a very low accident rate, its close to 0 over each 12 month period.
However it must be a good source of revenue for the exchequer.
Im all for cameras in.accident black spots or little.villages on trunk roads and near schools. I hold my hands up ,i exceeded the limit by 6mph on a dual.carriageway that has a 30 limit...oops.
